In January 2025, after decades of effort by MTA members and activists in the labor movement, former President Joe Biden signed into law a repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset.
Within months, public service retirees began receiving back payments to restore the portion of their Social Security benefits that had been unjustly taken!
To celebrate this union victory, the MTA wants to highlight some of the stories of our retired members who can share what this repeal meant to them.
